Service Description

We offer individiualised interventions to support parents who want to learn strategies to help their children with their worries or any other challenging behaviours. We offer a supportive and non judgemental space to support and guide parents to manage anxious behaviours. After all parents know their children best and are the people best placed to help them develop coping strategies. Our approach combines evidence based parenting strategies and CBT strategies to support parents to help their children cope with their worries. We use Cognitive Behavioural strategies to help parents: - Understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. - Support parents to help children think confident thoughts. - Understand the biological underpinnings of anxiety/anger. - Reduce unhelpful cycles and learn practical strategies to manage children’s worry. We also use parenting strategies based in social learning theory to: - Foster a positive attachment relationship by investing in play to rebuild strained parent-child relationships. - Support positive attention, praise and small rewards to encourage their children’s positive behaviours. - Support parents to set limits, consequences, ignore and punishments/time out as strategies. - Support parents to develop tools and confidence in managing those more difficult and challenging behaviours.
